Get your experience recognized

What is an EVC?

EVC stands for "Erkenning verworven competenties (Recognition of Acquired Competencies)". If you have gained work experience somewhere, you have also learned knowledge, skills, and competencies in practice. Thanks to the EVC trajectory, you can obtain exemptions for certain subjects in your education. If you achieve these, you will only learn what you need in a shortened program afterward.

Cost?

The cost for the school year 2025-2026 is 149 euros for a professional qualification and 119 euros for a partial qualification.

The cost for the school year 2026-2027 is 151 euros for a professional qualification and 121 euros for a partial qualification.

Certain target groups pay less. More info

The amounts are indexed annually.

How does it work?

Every EVC trajectory consists of three steps: a conversation, a test, and obtaining a qualification certificate. In the conversation and the practical test, you show that you have the required competencies to practice the profession. If you pass the test, you receive an official certificate that proves your professional competence: a professional qualification or experience certificate. This certificate has the same value as if you had passed a training program for the same profession.

More information about the EVC test process can be found on the Vlaanderen.be website.

For whom?

Anyone can have their experience recognized. The only conditions are that you have the  necessary professional knowledge and speak sufficient Dutch to practice the profession.

Where?

To demonstrate your experience for a profession, you can go to a recognized EVC test center. You can find an overview of all test centers per profession on Vlaanderen.be.
